Treasury Desk

Special Operations

The Special Operations division, known as the Treasury Desk, is part of the wholesale banking business. It is a highly specialised area that meets the investment and risk-coverage needs of institutional and corporate clients. The retail banking area serves individual customers and also receives support from the markets area to design and manage products and their associated risks.

We execute high-risk deals such as mergers and acquisitions, project finance, syndicated loans and global transactional transfers.

Special Operations is a fundamental part of the risk and investment management structure.

Safekeeping

SKR & Clearing

We offer SKR (Safekeeping Receipt) services as caretaker and trustee to owners of assets and documents who want to keep them in a highly secure and confidential system. Your assets can be kept in private security boxes or high-tech safes, depending on your needs and geographic availability. We can store physical goods, rare and historic securities and other securities, as well as non-physical goods such as electronic currencies, cryptocurrencies, NFTs and others.

With secure and privileged access to the electronic systems that manage these assets, we protect both the asset and the SKR information.

We also offer optional Clearing services through an Escrow account, for the payment or receipt of goods held under SKR. The amounts paid go to the former owner and the goods in the negotiated SKR go to the new owner, through a banking system present in more than 50 countries.

DVP

DVP & Clearing

Delivery versus payment (DVP) is central to the world’s securities settlement systems, but it is implemented in a variety of ways that differ by jurisdiction.

These models sit on a continuum: from intraday gross settlement, which minimises settlement risk but requires a large amount of liquidity, to delayed batch settlement, which offers clearing efficiencies but delays final settlement. At Granbell, settlement runs within a system encrypted with a quantum key and updated in real time.

Granbell customers recognise the benefits of real-time gross settlement and continue to rely on the operational and liquidity advantages of delayed batch settlement. Recognising this reality, we offer an electronic banking system with an intermediary Escrow account process that increases transaction security and gives large operations robustness.
